Spring Break

Hey #youngmommies! I hope you and your little munchkins had a great spring break. My little one and I surely did. We cheered on SWAC teams at the SWAC basketball tournament, played outdoors, enjoyed the company of family and even did some shopping! We enjoyed every bit of our break. Now we're back to the grind of work, school and daycare. Cheers to hard work to finish out the rest of the semester with good grades!

Welcome to 2014

Hello! It's the last day of the first month of the new year. I'm extremely late but I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday season and break. My little one and I surely enjoyed our month long holiday break. We traveled, visited family and caught up on much needed rest.

We are now 3 weeks into the spring semester of school and life is into full swing again. So my advice to young college student mommies like myself is to make sure you stay organized. Keep meals pre planned, keep a tight study schedule and make sure you little one is on a routine. Routine, schedule, planning and being organized will make life easier.

I just wanted to welcome the new year to you all for now. During my busy life of being a mom and student, I plan to do a better job of posting cool recipes, ideas, and advice. Love ya!

Hot Mama

Omg! Blue Ivy's mother, Queen B has shocked us all. Beyonce released her 5th studio album on iTunes last night. No promotion, no press, no warning. This is one bad mamajama, just any ole artist can't pull this off successfully. Beyonce basically took over iTunes because all of downloading by millions caused iTunes to crash for a bit. No worries through because its all fixed now! Everyone should definitely go download 14 tracks and 17 videos of pure Beehive goodness! Or rumor has it that you can go buy a physical copy of the album on Christmas day. Mrs. B will have you dancing, loving, feeling confident and sexy.

Entering the holiday season

Hey everyone! I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving. We are now entering the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. Not only is it the holiday season but finals time for us mommies in school. Throwing finals week into the mix of everything can bring new stress. My advice to myself and everyone else is to stay calm, pray and know that you will make it through on top. Mothers do your best to make everything really simple for you over the next couple weeks for the kids and your self. The goal is to get as much time in to properly study and get some last minute assignments done.
Tips for making this stressful time easier. 1. dress your kids in their cute track suits/warm-ups or clothes that looks nice without having to take time out to iron. 2. cook simple meals and or meals that stretch like spaghetti or breakfast for dinner. If you have extra cash, this is the time to get some healthy take out so you don.t have to cook one day. Meals from Boston Market are great. 3. Have your child sit down with you and do a quiet learning activity while you study.
There all kinds of things that you can do to make this time not so stressful for you. Also keep a positive attitude and remember that after finals you get to have a nice break from school to enjoy the holidays with family. I have some cool things to share with you guys regarding holiday decorations, crafts, treats, recipes and gift ideas. I will share those with you very soon. Good luck with everything you have going on with work, school and life in general.

Let go and let them!

Hello fabulous #youngmommies! Lately my little 2yr old has been wanting to do everything he possibly can without my help. Everything from going to the potty, to brushing his teeth to buckling himself into his carseat. Everytime I try to help him he says "I got it mommie". So I'm starting to let him be a little independent with supervission. After all, it makes things a tad bit easier on me. So my advice to you other moms out there, let your child do it on their own. Always make sure that they can't hurt themselves of course. If everything is safe, save yourself some time and let them do it!

How To Secure Quiet Alone Time During The Week

Everyday when my son and I get home from our long day of school and daycare, I immediately start cooking dinner. Cooking pre-planned meals are always key to a smooth evening. While cooking, have your little one do something that will keep them out of kitchen away from hot stoves and just out the way period. Have them sit down at the table and color or draw while eating a small snack. If you can see the living room from the kitchen, then have them sit down and watch their favorite movie or cartoon.

After dinner, you two should take a walk around the neighborhood/apartment complex or just play outside a little bit before the sun goes down. My son loves evening play time and it makes him tired. After  playtime give them a good bubble bath with Johnson and Johnson lavender bed time wash. A bath will relax them as well as calm them for bed.Follow bath time with story time. Read some fun story books to them before you tuck them into bed.

You should always keep your evening flowing once you get home from your busy day. The goal is the get your child in bed by 9 pm. Having them in bed at a decent time allows us mommies to unwind alone and prepare for the next day. Use this time to chat on the phone with friends, do homework, watch your favorite TV show or take a relaxing bubble baths.
